Amino Acids and BCAAs
Amino acids are often referred to as the building blocks of proteins, and the proteins and enzymes that are made up of these amino acids make up the muscles, hormones, neurotransmitters, and more that keep the body running smoothly. BCAAs are branched-chain amino acids that include leucine, isoleucine, and valine—three amino acids that your body cannot make on its own. Leucine, isoleucine and valine make up about 33% of the skeletal muscle in the body and are essential for muscle formation and are also helpful in slowing down muscle degradation.
