Omegas, EFAs, CLA, Oils
Omegas, EFAs, CLAs, and oils (especially fish oils and omega oils) are all part of a group of fatty acids that are naturally found in meat and some other foods and have been shown to have a wide range of health benefits. EFA stands for essential fatty acids and CLA stands for conjugated linoleic acid. The most common omega acids are omega-3 and omega-6, which are usually found in large quantities in fish.
The variety of health benefits from omega acids, EFAs, CLAs and healthy oils range from improved skin and hair color to improved brain function and have even been linked to increased anti-cancer effects. Many supplements containing these essential fatty acids have antioxidant properties, and omega acids in particular have been linked to healthy heart and brain function. The properties of omega fats are so powerful that they are sometimes called superunsaturated fats. These beneficial oils and EFAs are difficult to obtain in the regular diet, so supplements containing these beneficial ingredients are widely used and recommended for improved health.
